In the summer of
1999, Tim Flynn traveled to a small town in France as part of a
French/American exchange of artists. In association with the Art
Students League of Denver, Tim taught classes in wire sculpture to the
local children, and built several sculptures for the town of Auvillar.
Though speaking little French, Tim made friends through his juggling and
wire circus act. Thanks to the kindness of Alain Delsol, a warehouse and
all sorts of tools were provided so that Tim could accomplish the task
of producing a large-scale sculpture for the town square.

| Moving onto spend a week in Paris, Tim prowled the famous city and left souvenirs of his own making throughout the city: bits of wire shaped into whimsical oddities, to be found by some unsuspecting Parisian...the kind of mysterious humor that is Tim Flynn. | |
![]() Gracious hosts: the Sohier family |
Tim's dreams for his first trip to France are to establish camaraderie between Denver and Auvillar, and perhaps to eventually establish a French/American art museum of some kind. He wishes to thank, most profusely, the kind people of Auvillar, especially the mayor, and his gracious hosts Isabelle and Francis Sohier, at whose home he resided for a full two weeks. |
